突然ですが、「ある朝目覚めたら、すべての記憶を失っていた」としたら、みなさんはどうしますか？
自分の名前も、これまでの経歴も分からない。想像するだけで不安になるかもしれません。しかし私は、もしそうなったとしたら、無理に元の自分にしがみつくのではなく、「新しい別の自分」として第二の人生をスタートさせたい、と考えます。過去のしがらみや肩書きをすべて手放し、周りの人に迷惑をかけず、ただシンプルに、楽しく過ごせたら素敵だと思いませんか？
そんな新しい人生のスタートラインで、もし、身体が覚えている「たった一つの得意なこと」だけが残っているとしたら。私の場合、それは「電子楽器の演奏」です。
昔観た『シャイン』という映画の中に、深く印象に残っているシーンがあります。心に深い傷を負った主人公のピアニストが、ふらりと立ち寄った街のバーでピアノを弾く場面です。彼は過去の苦しみから解放されたかのように、ただ純粋に、本当に楽しそうに音を奏でていました。その演奏を聴いた街の人々は、言葉を超えて一瞬で笑顔になり、彼を温かく迎え入れたのです。
もし私に記憶がなくなっても、指先が電子楽器の多彩な音色を覚えていれば、言葉の壁も過去の経歴も関係ありません。街の小さな広場や集まりで、遊び心のあるフレーズを奏でるだけで、子どもからお年寄りまでみんなと心を通わせることができます。
「音楽が好き」という純粋な気持ちだけで、目の前の人をハッピーにし、自分のペースで楽しく生きていく。そんな、音色から始まる第二の人生も、どこか清々しくてワクワクすると思いませんか？
